TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
The Maldon Landscape Prize is open to all artists over the age of 18; professional, emerging or amateur. All entries will be judged anonymously with no prior knowledge of artist. Entrants are expected to abide by this stipulation. They will not publish images of entries on social media including but not limited to Instagram, website, Facebook or avenues of publicity identified as that of the artist prior to the final judging and announcement of the winner. Any entries in breach of this request will be disqualified.
1.Entries
Each artist may submit a maximum of two entries. A separate entry form and non-refundable application fee of $35, which must be paid online, is to accompany each individual entry. Entries will not be accepted for consideration until the fee is paid.
Entries;
Must be an original work, executed and owned by the submitting artist and completed recently
May be painted, drawn or an original print. Media can include oils, acrylics, watercolours, egg tempera, encaustic, mixed media, graphite, charcoal, pastel or another suitable mixed media.
Be essentially two dimensional.
Have a maximum width of 950mm, including frame.
Must be submitted via online entry only and include:
Artist details including email address, telephone contact and address.
A short artist statement including date your work was finished.
All photographic files must be submitted as a high resolution JPEG file with a minimal file size of 2 MB and no bigger than 8 MB. ( TIFF files will not be accepted as valid entry. As a rule of thumb, if they appear pixelated on screen it is too small in resolution).
2. Finalist Exhibition
The finalist exhibition work will be ready for hanging with “D” rings affixed approximately one third from the top of the frame and wire not higher than 80 mm below the top of the frame.
Be submitted completely dry if selected for the finalist exhibition at Cascade Gallery.
All entries will be exhibited online unless the artist elects not to be shown.
All entries MUST be received before 5pm on 30 June 2026. There will be no exceptions.
The artist warrants that the work submitted is original and does not infringe the copyright, moral rights or other rights of any third party, and that he or she owns all rights and interests in the work submitted. The artist will indemnify and keep indemnified the Maldon Landscape Prize 2026 and their sponsors and agents against any claim by a third party in relation to the work.
3. SELECTION OF FINALISTS.
There will be one round of judging in pre-selection. A panel of three expert independent judges will form the selection panel that chooses up to a maximum of fort five works as finalists for exhibition and final judging at Cascade Gallery, Maldon.
Finalists will be notified by email by Friday 31 July 2026.
All works entered will be shown online and eligible for an Audience Vote Award by online vote. Please note only one vote per email address will be accepted.
The judges’ decision will be final and non-negotiable. No discussion will be entered into.
4. FINALISTS.
All finalist exhibition works must be delivered to Cascade Gallery, 1A Fountain Street Maldon, Victoria 3463 on Sunday 20 September 2026 between 10.00 and 3.00, unless by prior arrangement.
Insurance of the work is highly recommended during periods of travel and is the responsibility of the artist. All reasonable care will be taken during the exhibition. Maldon Artist Network is insured for damage or loss of the work during the exhibition.
Cascade Gallery will determine where each image will be exhibited and will not enter into discussion or negotiation for placement of images
All works must be labelled on the back lower left-hand side with title, name of artist, price, artist contact details including email address and telephone contact legibly printed.
Works must be for sale. The artist must nominate a sale price underneath artist details on the entry form. Maldon Artist Network/Cascade Gallery will take a 20% commission so please factor this into the sale price.
From the selected finalists works the nominated Landscape Prize judge will decide on the First Prize winner of $10000. There will be an Emerging Artist Prize of $2000, two Highly Commended awards and a People’s Choice award of $500 determined by votes received from the online audience. The winning artworks will be selected by an independent judge, prominent and respected within the Australian arts community. Judge to be announced.
The winners of the above prizes will be announced at the Opening of the 2026 Landscape Prize Exhibition on Saturday, 26 September 2026 at Cascade Gallery.
The Prize is non-acquisitive.
Finalist artworks must be collected from Cascade Gallery on Sunday 25 October from 4-6pm or Monday 26 October from 9-1. No exceptions unless by prior arrangement. It is the artist’s responsibility to organise delivery and collection of artworks and payment of all courier/mailing including any packaging for return delivery.
The judges have absolute discretion in selecting the finalists and winners and the judges' decisions will be final. No discussion will be entered into.
The artist agrees that all works entered may be used as promotion of the Landscape Prize exhibition across all media. Artist attribution will always be made, but the organisation is not responsible for third party error in attribution.
Copyright remains with the artist at all times.
